The court sanctioned placement of the defendant on the case of Politkovskaya’s murder in the investigative isolation ward

The court took into custody in one of the investigative isolation wards of Moscow ex-militiaman Sergey Khajikurbanov, defendant on the case of murder of journalist of “Novaya Gazeta” Anna Politkovskaya shot down on October, 7, 2006.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that on October, 27, 2011, the investigators brought a charge of organizing Politkovskaya’s murder against ex-militiaman Sergey Khajikurbanov. On October, 16, Committee of Inquiry reported accomplishment of investigation concerning five persons accused of Politkovskaya’s murder: brothers Rustam, Jabrail and Ibragim Mahudov, Lom-Ali Gaitukaev and Sergey Khajikurbanov.

Ex-militiaman Sergey Khajikurbanov was serving penalty in a colony and was transported to Moscow for the forthcoming trial.

Khajikurbanov was sentenced to 8 years of custody for extortion of money from supposed organizer of the murder Dmitry Pavliuchenkov, “Echo of Moscow” reports.

Upon Public Prosecutor’s decision he was moved to an investigative Isolation ward of Moscow for investigative actions on “Politkovskaya’s case”.
