Court refuses to find stepson of Antonina Maevskaya, killed Sochi, a victim
On March 11, the Krasnodar Territorial Court continued hearing the case on the murder in Sochi of pensioner Maevskaya. The session was attended by human rights defender Grigory Uchkurov, who was to represent the interests of Yuri Maevskiy, the stepson of the murdered woman.
The judge dismissed the stepson's petition or recognizing him as a suffered party, arguing that there was no blood relation between Antonina Maevskaya and Yuri Maevskiy. On these grounds the rights defender Grigory Uchkurov was not admitted by the judge to the trial as Yuri Maevskiy's representative.
IN the course of the session, the court listened to the prosecutor's indictment. According to his story, the defendant Vorobyov had tried to fake Maevskaya's testament in his favour; and for this purpose he visited Rostov-on-Don.
Then, the floor was given to Vorobyov, accused of murdering and robbing Antonina Maevskaya. He categorically denied his confession of committing the murder that he had given in the course of the inquiry and stated that he gave the evidence to the investigator under a threat of physical violence.
"The case has many unclear things, both on the part of the defendants, and on the part of the investigation. It looks like everything is being made to confuse the litigation and divert it aside," Uchkurov believes.
