Onischenko: so far, only one Georgian company brought its wine samples to Russia
Out of the 52 Georgian wine producers that had applied for importing their products into Russia, only 19 have delivered the documents for examination; and only one company brought its wine samples, said Gennady Onischenko, the head of the "Rospotrebnadzor".
"The analysis has shown that one of the reasons for the low activeness of the would-be importers refers to visa problems. The 'Rospotrebnadzor' is ready to apply to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on rendering diplomatic support to the producers wishing to bring their products to the Russian market," said Onischenko.
The Russian MFA has not yet commented on the statement of the head of the "Rospotrebnadzor".
Meanwhile, according to the Georgian National Wine Agency, already four companies have delivered samples of their products to the Russian Federation. The Agency has explained that companies send their samples individually and define the terms by themselves, the "Georgia Online" reports.
