Residents of Krasnodar insisted on cancelling development of the greenbelt

On December, 7, Mayor of Krasnodar Vladimir Evlanov during a citizens’ gathering promised that the greenbelt near Rozhdestvensky park would not be built over.

At the end of November some regional mass media made public an information that the Administration of Krasnodar was planning to build over the greenbelt with élite cottages. On Saturday, December, 1, a spontaneous townsmen’s gathering passed off in “Yubileiny” micro-district where the greenbelt is one of the last undeveloped sites on the bank of the Kuban river and Mayor Vladimir Evlanov promised to look into the matter.

The next day after the gathering public opinion poll was carried out among 819 townsmen. 81,3% residents of Krasnodar flatly expressed their opinion against development, 2,8% found difficulty in replying and 5,2% supported development of the greenbelt.

Indeed, Mayor of Krasnodar confessed, there were plans of building social objects the micro-district needed in the territory of the greenbelt, first of all a kindergarten, but under constraint of public opinion the authorities changed their plans.
