Russia suspended the use of radar station in Gabala, Azerbaijan

Today the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued a statement running that Russia suspended the use of radar station (RS) in Gabala. The countries did not come to an agreement about the sum of rental, the Ministry reports.

“Circumstantial talks were held between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation in connection with Gabala RS. During the talks the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed its readiness to cooperate with the Russian party in prolongation of the term of lease”, the statement runs.

However, “during the talks the countries failed to come to an agreement about rental of Gabala RS”.

“The Azerbaijani party received a note of suspension of the use of Gabala RS since December, 10, 2012, for the reason that the agreement between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation on the status, guideline and terms of use of Gabala RS lost effect”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reports.
