Armenia: defendants are questioned at trial on beating military doctors

Today, the court of general jurisdiction of the Yerevan communities Nor Nork and Avan, chaired by Judge David Arutyunyan and considering the case about the brawl in the "Harsnaqar" restaurant, has entered the phase of defendants' questioning.

The defendant Arthur Babloyan has stated to the court that he confirmed his testimony given to the preliminary investigation. On the basis of this statement, the court decided to make public his testimony at the session. According to the minutes of interrogation, Babloyan refused to evidence and said he did not admit his guilt.

At confrontations, the victims Artak Bayadyan, Garik Sogomonyan, Arkady Agajanyan and Edgar Nikoyan stated aid Babloyan and his friends subjected them to beatings in the restaurant. In particular, according to their version, Artak Bayadyan and Vage Avetyan received traumas, as a result of which Vage Avetyan died 12 days later. In his turn, according to the minutes, Babloyan asserted the opposite – he did not take part in beating the military doctors.
