Rashad Gasanov, a "Nida" activist, arrested for three months in Azerbaijan

Rashad Gasanov, a board member of the civil movement "Nida" (Shout), who was detained in Baku, was accused with illegal possession of weapons. The Nasimi District Court has ruled to restrict the activist's freedom by a three-month arrest.

Rashad's advocate Asabali Mustafaev has learned only this morning about the charges presented on March 14. Mustafaev has stated a violation of his client's rights, as the investigation did not inform him about the proceedings; and thus Gasanov was deprived of effective legal defence.

The lawyer has suggested that Gasanov will lodge an appeal complaint.

The "Nida" rejects all the charges against all the arrested activists of the organization and treats them as politically motivated.
