ECtHR asks to present documents on Buzurtanov's case before July 4

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has demanded from the Russia's Government to answer – before July 4 – all the questions on the case of Akhmed Buzurtanov, said the lawyer Musa Pliev.

According to the lawyer, the Russian authorities have to present, until July 4, copies of all the materials on the investigation into the kidnapping.

"The ECtHR has put questions to the government on all points of violations applied for in the complaint, trying to clear out whether the Russian authorities had pursued their obligation to protect the right to life (Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR)), whether Akhmed had been exposed to torture and ill-treatment, and whether the authorities had complied with the obligation to protect Akhmed's health and prevent the use of torture (Article 3 of the ECHR). The ECtHR also raises the issue on whether Russia has in principle the effective remedies for complaints about torture and violations of the right to life in connection with the kidnapping," said Musa Pliev.

So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments from Russian authorities on this information.
