Court extends arrest of Gabibulaeva and Akaeva in North Ossetia
Today, the arrest of residents of Dagestan Zalina Gabibulaeva and Zaira Akaeva, accused of illegal possession and transportation of explosives, was extended by two months – till May 18, 2013.
The session of the Prigorodny Court of North Ossetia, where the case is heard from January 16, has satisfied the prosecution motion to extend their custody for two months in view of the severity of the alleged crime.
The parties at the trial were invited to comment on the motion; however, no proposals were announced by the defence, public defenders and the suspects; therefore, after considering the motion in the retiring room, the court decided to uphold it.
Also today, the court heard the testimony of a defence witness – Irina Gordienko, a correspondent of the "Novaya Gazeta", who has confirmed the information that the defendant Zalina Gabibulaeva is a Sharia wife Rasul Kudaev, who is accused of the attack on Nalchik in October 2005.
