Azerbaijani MoD announced detention of two Armenian citizens at crossing the border

On March 16 and 17, two civilians passed from Armenia to Azerbaijan, said the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD). Both Armenian citizens were detained at the border, which is also the line of troops contact.

Durmush Karyan, a resident of the village of Dovekh, Noemberyan District of Armenia, crossed to Azerbaijan in the Gazakh District on March 16 at 4:50 p.m. local time; while Anakhit Arakelyan, a villager of Aigovid, Idjevan District of Armenia, crossed the line of contact in the Gazakh District on March 17 at 4:20 p.m.

Both infringers were handed over to the Azerbaijani State Commission on Prisoners of War (POWs), Hostages and Missing Persons, said the MoD of Azerbaijan.

Firudin Sadygov, the head of the working group on POWs of the above Commission, said that both border breakers are civilians. According to Sadygov, they are elderly people; and the Azerbaijani party is ready to return them to Armenia.
