In Batumi, 20 hunger-strikers seek to dismiss prosecutors
Since March 17, 2013, 20 local residents are on hunger strike in demand of resignation of prosecutors Adzharia and of investigation against them. The hunger-strikers assert that they had suffered from actions of five prosecutors.
"We demand dismissal of these prosecutors, who had been taking unlawful and unfair decisions for eight years," David Kukuladze, a resident of Batumi and the organizer of the hunger strike, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
He added that one of the hunger-strikers Sofiko Diasamidze felt bad was taken away in an ambulance.
"Many of us feel bad, but we've set up tents and plan to stay here until our demands are satisfied," said David Kukuladze.
Within six months, the persons-victims of prosecutors' actions wrote over 100 applications to the General Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, telling about particular violations, the lawyer Paata Shavadze, who represents the protesters' interests, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
Irakli Imerlishvili, Deputy General Public Prosecutor of Batumi, has stated that the inquiry into the above facts was already underway, the "Georgia-Online" reports.
