Dagestani resident complains about threats from relatives of suspects of raping his daughter

In Dagestan, Magomednabi Nazhmutdinov, a resident of Karabudakhkent, complains about threats received by him from relatives of the suspects who figure in the case on sexual abuse of his daughter.

On November 28, 2012, the Caspian Inter-District Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for Dagestan ordered to initiate criminal investigation on raping the girl; she was recognized as a victim, and his father – as her legal representative, says the statement of the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", received by the "Caucasian Knot".

On March 20, Magomednabi Nazhmutdinov turned to the HRC "Memorial" with a complaint about the threats received from relatives of the suspects in the case and their advocate. According to human rights activists, relatives of the suspects exert pressure on Nazhmutdinov, demanding to recall his application from the police.

"They persuade me, threaten with physical violence, offer money, demand that I recall the application for good; otherwise they would arrange my dismissal from work and discredit my before my bosses, if I didn't do it," the HRC "Memorial" quotes Nazhmutdinov as saying.
