Picketers in Volgograd demand solution of children's health problems

In Volgograd, the participants of today's picket in defence of children's rights have moved a number of demands to the authorities, including provision of accessible school training and opening of rehabilitation centres, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

The picket was about 40 people strong. The held posters: "Modernization of public health in Bozhenov's way: closed maternity centres, women's clinics and hospitals", "Project of 'Edinaya Rossiya' 'Kindergartens – to children' – is it a myth or such terrible reality?", "Volgograd – a city of inaccessible kindergartens" and "Bring bureaucrats to responsibility!"

The picketers protested against the closure of dairy kitchens, optimization in health care entities, the closure of maternity wards in district and rural hospitals, funding cuts of maternity hospitals and institutions for children with disabilities.

"We don't understand how they can cut social programmes, taking money away from children and elderly people and increasing spending on themselves – bureaucrats," Olga Cheburakova, an activist of the movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
