All the persons detained during an action of protest in Baku released

All the participants of an unauthorized action of the Azerbaijani opposition in Fontanov square of Baku detained and delivered to police departments were released. None of them was brought before the court, Giulaga Aslanly, Secretary of Civil movement for democracy “Public Chamber” (CMDPC), Deputy Chairman of “Musavat” party, reported.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” informed that on December, 10, the police hindered the supporters of the opposition from holding an unauthorized action of protest with the demand from the authorities to respect human rights. Part of the participants were detained. According to Aslanly, most of the detainees were from among the activists of “Musavat” party, the National Front of Azerbaijan (NFA), a number of youth organizations and several nonpartisans. Press Service of NFA, in its turn, reported that 130 people were detained during the action.

“The detainees were released after being fined and receiving warnings from Sabail, Yasamal and Nasimi district police departments of Baku. None of them was brought to court”, Giulaga Aslanly, Secretary of Civil movement for democracy “Public Chamber” (CMDPC), Deputy Chairman of “Musavat” party, said talking to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.

According to preliminary data, about one third of those detained were fined. The sums of the fines exacted from them for insubordination to the police made about 11 to 15 manats (about 13,5 to 18 dollars).
