A campaign “Art for the sake of democracy” started in Azerbaijan

Activists of non-governmental organizations in Azerbaijan announced the start of a human rights campaign “Art for the sake of democracy”.

The new campaign was organized by three non-governmental organizations of the country: “Human Rights Club” (HRC), the Institute of Freedom and Safety of Reporters (IFSR) and the Center of National and International Research (CNIR).

“We will use various forms of art to encourage democratic reforms and respect for human rights in Azerbaijan”, Head of HRC Rasul Djafarov said at a presentation of the new campaign in IFSR Media center on December, 10.

Film festivals, music contests, exhibitions of works of fine arts and other cultural events connected with the problems of human rights and development of democracy are planned within the framework of the campaign.

According to Djafarov, the campaign will protect the art workers whose rights are being violated.
