Raffi Ovannisyan reports a try of an attempt at him, the police detained a suspect

Raffi Ovannisyan, leader of “Nasledie” (“Heritage”) party of Armenia who was on a hunger strike in Svobody (Freedom) square, reported that a try of an attempt at him was committed on March, 23. The police detained the supposed criminal.

Raffi Ovannisyan declared the start of his hunger strike on March, 10, in protest against the results of the presidential election. According to him, he is going to continue the strike until resignation of the present Head of the state.

The party’s statement issued on March, 25, runs that at about 18:00, March, 23, an unknown man made his way shouting towards Raffi Ovannisyan in Svobody square. According to the oppositional politician’s supporters, the police were inactive and the man was stopped by the people present in the square and passed over to the policemen, NEWS.am reports.

The police, in their turn, reported that the man detained in Svobody square was G. Kazar born in 1961. According to the policemen, the man shouting abuse out loudly to leader of “Nasledie” party Raffi Ovannisyan and pushing those present was running towards him, Panorama.am reports.
