Editor-in-chief of Dagestani newspaper detained in Baku Airport

Milrad Fatullaev, the editor-in-chief of the "Nastoyascheye Vremya" (Present Time) newspaper, has reported that border guards would not let him out of the Baku Airport.

"I approached the frontier control at 3:00 a.m., but they wouldn't let me out into the city, even though all the passengers had already left the airport. Nobody explains anything; and only after my indignation they told me that they were waiting for the arrival of some important professional from Baku. The shift commander named Effendi responds to all the questions in the same manner stating that 'it's your problem'," Fatullaev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Milrad Fatullaev associates his detention with the fact that he was recently on a working trip to Armenia. "From fragments of their conversation I realized that the border guards didn't like the stamp in my foreign passport about my recent trip to Armenia on official business," he said.
