Armenian Govt allots 50,000 US dollars to treat Airikyan abroad

Paruir Airikyan, a former presidential candidate in Armenia, has received 20.5 million drams (about 50,000 US dollars) from the government for taking his treatment after the suffered attack and has left for Holland.

The attempt on Paruir Airikyan was committed in the evening on January 31. He was wounded in his arm, hospitalized and underwent a surgery. On February 11, Airikyan left the hospital; however, on February 14, he was again taken to hospital with aggravation of his health condition.

According to Airikyan's friend Karo Egnukyan, an entrepreneur, the politician has left for treatment in the Netherlands today. As noted by Egnukyan, is not yet known how much the treatment will cost and how long it will take, the "Armenpress" reports.

The money for the treatment of ex-presidential candidate was allocated from the reserve fund of the government, the "Panorama.am" reports.

The blogger of the "Caucasian Knot" named Kornelij raises questions about the reasons, for which the government has allocated money for the treatment of ex-presidential candidate. "The money doesn't belong to the Govt; this is ours – taxpayers' – money. And we need explanations why they've sent Airikyan for treatment abroad. And why treatment of injured arm is so expensive?" he wrote in his today's post.
