Skyscraper "Grozny City" on fire in Grozny
Because of the combustible part of insulation, the fire has spread across all the levels of the 40-storey building of the complex "Grozny City". The building will be restored, said the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
According to preliminary reports, nobody was hurt by the fire. Employees of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) complained about the absence of special fire-fighting equipment in the place of the accident; and a special helicopter took off there from the city of Mineralnye Vody.
"The fire spread from the western wing of the building in all directions and covered almost the entire complex. Fighting the fire on the upper floors is almost impossible," a source from the MfE told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"According to preliminary information, the fire in the high-rise was triggered by a short circuit. But there are also reports that builders were working in levels 4-5, who could start the fire by violating safety rules during welding works," the edition named "Life News" quotes its source from the MfE of Chechnya.
