The Sverdlovsk Regional Court received 23 complaints against the verdict on mass riots in the village of Sagra in the summer of 2011, which resulted in the death of a native of Azerbaijan. The court's decision was appealed against both by those sentenced and the suffered party.

The verdict on the case was announced on March 19. Six defendants, found to be the organizers of the riots, received real terms of imprisonment from a year and eight months up to six years, and 17 persons more received conditional sentences from three to four years.

The appeals lodged by the advocates of the convicts and representatives of the victims will be considered by the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation in Moscow, the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta" writes.

The verdict was appealed against not by all the representatives of convicts and victims. Also, it was not appealed against by the prosecutor, the RAPSI reports.
