MCC found Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov guilty in Politkovskaya's murder case

As reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, today the Moscow City Court (MCC) has found Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov guilty in the murder case of the journalist of "Novaya Gazeta" Anna Politkovskaya and sentenced him to 11 years in prison. The court has also obliged him to pay three million roubles to the children of the late journalist as compensation of moral harm.

Karen Nersisyan, the defendant's lawyer, has treated the verdict as illegal and declared his readiness to appeal against it.

In their turn, the suffered party – Ilya Politkovskiy and Vera Politkovskaya – have also said that they would appeal against the verdict, since they had insisted on cancellation of Pavlyuchenkov's pre-trial agreement, and objected to the consideration of his case in a specific order.
