NGOs of Russia and the “Eastern Partnership” are going to monitor electoral democratic character

Twelve non-governmental organizations from Russia, the countries of European Union and member states of “Eastern Partnership” EU program instituted an alliance: European Platform for democratic election (EPDE) whose goal is to secure electoral democratic character.

“The main purpose of EPDE is support of the efforts and aspiration of the citizens in European countries, especially “Eastern Partnership” and Russia, to secure conditions for free, fair and democratic election”, Anar Mamedli, Head of Azerbaijani Center of electoral monitoring and learning democracy (CEMLD), told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent. This Azerbaijani NGO became one of the cofounders of the Platform in Warsaw on December, 12.

Besides CEMLD, the cofounders of EPDE are: “Golos” (“Vote”) Association (Russia), the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, Committee of Ukrainian electors ”European Interchange” (Germany), “Viasna” Human Rights Center (Belorussia), Helsinki Civil Assembly (Armenia), Association for Free Election and Democracy (Georgia), Norwegian Helsinki Committee, “Opora” (“Reliance”) civil network (Ukraine), Promo-Lex Association (Moldavia) and Swedish International Liberal Center.
