The defendants’ attorneys appealed against the verdict on the case of blasting “Sapsan”

Today the attorneys of the defendants on the case of attempt of blasting “Sapsan” train appealed against the verdict of judge Andrey Rasnovsky of Moscow city court who acknowledged four defendants guilty and sentenced them to 14 to 17 years of custody in a strict regime colony.

Aslan Artsuev, defendant Khamzhuev’ attorney, told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent that the defense asked to acquit the defendants on the clauses concerning which they did not acknowledge themselves guilty and minimize the punishment for the charges the defendants acknowledged.

Earlier, the “Caucasian Knot” reported that the defendants were accused of organizing blasting “Sapsan” passenger train on its way from Moscow to Saint Petersburg. Law enforcement officers reported prevention of the terrorist act on July, 2011. During trial the defendants acknowledged themselves guilty of storage of explosives and participation in paramilitary groups but rejected the charge of preparing the act of terror. The defense called the verdict of guilty unlawful and ungrounded. According to the verdict of Moscow city court dated December, 10, native of Kabardino-Balkaria Islam Khamzhuev was sentenced to 18 years, native of Mordovia Fail Nevliutov to 15 years the Chechens Mansur Edilbiev and Mansur Umaev residing in Moscow to 16 and 17 years of custody respectively.
