Participants of a hunger strike in the stanitsa of Medvedovskaya, Kuban, suspended their action of protest

The peasants of the stanitsa of Medvedovskaya, Krasnodar region, decided to suspend their hunger strike before the beginning of a dialogue with representatives of local authorities.

On December, 20, owners of land shares in the stanitsa of Medvedovskaya, Timashevsky district, went on a hunger strike demanding to give them a right to drop out of “Russia” agricultural firm. For several days there was no response to the action of protest from the authorities.

On the New Year’s eve representatives of regional, district and rural administrations, Head doctor of the rural hospital and three employees of “Holding company “Russia” agricultural firm” limited corporation had a meeting with Valentina Valentova, coordinator of the action of protest.

The police personnel also met with the owners of land shares and received their explanations concerning statements submitted earlier.

Taking into consideration that the authorities started a dialogue with the peasants on December, 31, the hunger strike was temporarily suspended, web-site of regional branch of KPRF party reports.

The owners of land shares consider the decision of the court prolonging their lease contract on land shares of 2006 for an indefinite term unlawful, “Delovaya Gazeta.Yug” informs.
