HRC "Memorial" challenges inspection of Moscow Prosecutor's Office

Today, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" has appealed to the Zamoskvoretskiy District Court against the actions and decisions of the Moscow Prosecutor's Office, which had conducted an unscheduled inspection at the office of the organization.

Let us remind you that the unscheduled inspection of the HRC "Memorial" by the Moscow Prosecutor's Office jointly with the Ministry of Justice and tax experts began on March 26. The HRC "Memorial" finds both the decision of the Office to initiate an inspection and the inspectors' actions illegal.

"The HRC 'Memorial' believes, same as the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, that the regime of prosecutor's inspections has no precise regulations," says the press release of the HRC "Memorial" received today by the "Caucasian Knot.

Alexander Cherkasov, the chairman of the Board of the HRC "Memorial", requests in the application submitted to the Zamoskvoretskiy District Court to declare the decisions of the Prosecutor's Office unlawful, stop inspecting the HRC and eliminate the violations.

A similar application was addressed today to the court by the International "Memorial".
