Action "Inauguration of New Armenia" ends with march in central Yerevan
Today, Yerevan hosted – against the official inauguration of President Serzh Sargsyan – an oppositional rally named "Inauguration of New Armenia". In the course of the action, Raffi Ovannisyan, the runner-up in the presidential election, read out the "Oath to New Armenia"; then his supporters organized a spontaneous march.
Prior to the "Inauguration of the New Armenia"Raffi Ovannisyan raised the national flag and told the crowd about the "victory of the people and urged Sargsyan to repent to the "victorious people" and self-resign, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
When the crowd began shouting: "Raffi is President!" and "Serge, go away!" Ovannisyan asked them to chant only: "Armenia".
He also called on everyone to join the rally scheduled for 6:00 p.m. After the rally, the scheduled march near the presidential residence will start.
Today, the call to join the Ovannisyan's march was also made by several dozens of studentsof Armenian universities. They came to the buildings of educational institutions in the city centre and held brief pickets, the "Arminfo.am" reports.
