Davitashvili: this year Georgia will be able to deliver million bottles of wine to Russia

Georgia will be able to export to Russia about a million bottles of wine already in 2013; while the annual country's output makes 10 million litres of wine, said Levan Davitashvili, the head of the Georgia's National Wine Agency.

"Today, Georgia produces 10 million litres of wine per year, of which 1.488 million litres are sold abroad. Each year, the exports increase by 20 percent. Given this situation, the Russian market, of course, is a priority," Mr Davitashvili told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to his story, today, there are no preconditions that the Russian market may close again for Georgian wines.

The company named "Wines and Organic Vineyard Djakelebi" is among those vendors, which successfully passed the inspection on April 1-5; and, according to Zurab Sadjaya, the commercial director of the company, the access to the Russian market will be an interesting challenge for the enterprise.

"We are already exporting wine to Germany, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Russia will receive our traditional wines, always popular with consumers: 'Rkatsiteli' and 'Saperavi'. Although, let's see what customers will ask for," Zurab Sadjaya said in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
