About 10 people detained in Rostov-on-Don at attempt to hold "Day of Russian Wrath"

On April 13, an attempt to hold the "Day of Russian Wrath" in Rostov-on-Don resulted in detention of about 10 people. All of them were released from the police after check of documents, said a source from the OVD (Interior Division).

The action, not sanctioned by the authorities, was held in Sovietov Square, in front of the regional administration. In total, about 100 young men gathered in the square.

Several police cars were seen near the square; and dog handlers with dogs and several groups of policemen were moving around.

At about 2:00 p.m., policemen began squeezing young people from the square. Around 50 young men accumulated in one corner of the square. Policemen asked everybody to disperse. Some began protesting, demanding an explanation for such behaviour of policemen and filming the whole dispute. Someone in the crowd said that the action had started.

However, three trucks with OMON (riot police) agents appeared immediately, who cordoned off the crowd. Young guys began dispersing slowly. Nevertheless, policemen put four of them into paddy wagons and took away.

According to the city police station, about ten young men were detained today in Sovietov Square and brought to the station for identity check. Then, all were released.
