Rally in Volgograd demands to stop prevent nickel developments on Khopyor
A rally was held in Volgograd against extraction of nickel in the Novokhopyorsk District of the Voronezh Region, bordering on the Volgograd Region. The organizers of the action collected signatures to an open letter addressed to the UN against the destruction of the basin of the Khopyor River.
The action gathered about 40 people, who held the posters: "You destroy us, and we'll destroy you!", "Nickel is war!", "Cossacks, come to defend homeland!", "Homeland or Death!" and others.
"The aim of the rally is to attract the authorities' attention to the nickel topic. We condemn Governor Bozhenov for his criminal inaction. When poisoned water flows down the Volga River, it will damage the whole Volgograd Region," Anatoly Beev, Ataman of Special Cossack Army and one of the organizers of the rally, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The organizers of the rally collected signatures to an open letter to the UN against destruction of the basin of the Khopyor River, where the construction of a nickel factory is planned.
