"Syrian Airlines" resume Yerevan-Damascus flights

April 16 is the scheduled date to resume flights between Armenia and Syria, said Svetlana Ovannisyan, the spokesperson for the Yerevan office of the "Syrian Airlines".

Earlier, the flights between Armenia and Syria were carried out by the "Armavia" Airline; however, due to the absence of the required number of passengers the air service was discontinued. On March 29, the "Armavia" informed that the company began the bankruptcy proceedings.

Air flights between Armenia and Syria have been resumed by a new route Damascus-Qamishli-Yerevan. The flights will be performed by the "Syrian Airlines", the "Armenia-Today" writes today.

The first flight is scheduled for April 16; the total number of passengers is not specified yet.

"Tickets for 29 passengers have been already bought in Syria, while passengers in Armenia have only booked them," the "PanArmenian.net" quotes Svetlana Ovannisyan, an employee of the Yerevan-based office of the "Syrian Airlines".
