Fund raising started for fined participants of a protest action in Azerbaijan

Fund raising for the participants of a protest action in Baku against non-battle losses in the army fined by the courts of Azerbaijan was announced of Facebook social network.

On January, 14, district courts of Baku fined the participants of the action to sums of 300 to 600 manats (about 340 to 680 dollars). According to the oppositionists, the total sum of fines makes 11 800 manats (about 13,5 thousand dollars). There are 25 persons among those fined. These people are going to file an appeal.

A fund raising action titled “In support of fined participants of the action “Put an end to the soldiers’ deaths!” started on the Facebook. The action is going under the slogans “Justice for 5 giapiks” and “Club together for the sake of justice”.

“Let’s club together 5 to 10 giapiks each (0,62-12,4 cents), no more than one manat, and bring the money to the court”, Head of youth branch of NFA party Abulfaz Gurbanly called of his Facebook page.

According to the organizers of the action, if the activists refuse to accept this support from the Facebook users the money collected will be given to the lost soldiers’ families.
