In Volgograd, advocates ask to acquit defendants in case of bribing at GIBDD

Today, in Volgograd, at the trial of bribing in the GIBDD (road traffic police), the defence asked the court to acquit the defendants with the right to rehabilitation, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

On April 8, the trial started listening of arguments, and the public prosecutor asked to sentence the defendants to 8-9 years of imprisonment.

Today, Tatiana Babayan, advocate of Bondarenko, stated at the court session that the public prosecutors failed to provide evidence against the defendants and that the charges were based on indirect evidence.

Ruslan Bolyakin, advocate of Perepelitsa, claimed absence of evidence of the creation of an organized criminal grouping and the scheme to raise money.

Sergey Kovalik, advocate of Karasaeva, has called in question the credibility of testimonies of witnesses, who often literally quoted each other, and pointed out the contradictions in the testimonies of witnesses that they gave during the preliminary investigation and at the trial and the fact that some testimonies were caused by "simple offense" of former subordinates.

Vadim Babayan, advocate of Kirpa, has noted that no witness gave a testimony that he had seen the transfer of money. He has also added that the public prosecutors failed to prove the fact of creation of an organized criminal grouping.
