In Yerevan, pilots of "Armenian Airlines" hold picket in front of Presidential Administration

Today, pilots and engineers-servicemen of the bankrupt company "Armenian Airlines" that got disabilities as a result of their professional activities, held a protest action near the residence of Armenian President of Serzh Sargsyan.

The participants of the protest action demanded to compensate for the harm caused to their health during their professional activities.

The protesters said that the funds due to them have not been paid since September 2006. According to their version, after the bankruptcy of the company "Armenian Airlines" (not to be confused with the company "Armavia"), the liability to pay compensation was taking over by the government.

However, after the constitutional reforms, the issue was withdrawn from the Constitution. During the protest action, the participants demanded to return the issue to the Constitution, the "Ekho Kavkaza" (Echo of the Caucasus) reports today.

"The company has ceased to pay funds because of its disqualification after on March 27, 2003, Robert Kocharyan, second President of Armenia, pronounced the company 'Armenian Airlines' to be a bankrupt in accordance with the government resolution and without preliminary auction," the "Armenianreport" quotes one of the protesters as saying.
