In Dagestan, court fines user of "Odnoklassniki" for advocating extremism

Djambulat Magomedduganov, a resident of the village of Stalskoe of the Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, who was found guilty of advocating extremism and inciting hatred and enmity on the Internet, was fined by the court 150,000 roubles.

Let us remind you that on January 7, 24-year-old Djambulat Magomedduganov wrote a status on his page in the social network "Odnoklassniki" (Classmates), in which he called for jihad and killings of "kyafirs" (infidels), disbelievers and their helpers. Criminal case was instituted against Djambulat Magomedduganov under Part 1 of Article 280 (public calling to extremist activities) and Part 1 of Article 282 (inciting hatred or enmity with use of media) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. During the preliminary investigation, the defendant pleaded guilty and asked for consideration of the case in a particular order.

On April 11, 2013, the Magistrate Court of the Kizilyurt District considered the case against Djambulat Magomedduganov and sentenced him to a fine in the amount of 150,000 roubles. Murad Mallaev, the defendant's advocate, told the "Caucasian Knot" that the public prosecutor asked to fine Djambulat Magomedduganov 300,000 roubles, and the defence asked for the minimum sentence.

The defendant has said that he regrets his deed. He asked the Court to pronounce a non-custodial form of sentence. The advocate said that his client was satisfied with the verdict. The public prosecutor also did not challenge the verdict, and on April 21, after 10 days after its pronouncement, the verdict came into force.
