CEC of Georgia: violations fixed at midterm parliamentary elections

As reported by Eka Azarashvili, the press speaker of the Central Election Commission (CEC), during the election of an MP in the Bagdati Constituency violations were recorded; they were confirmed also by activists of the "United National Movement".

On April 27, Georgia held mid-term parliamentary elections by the majority system in three constituencies. In total, 23 candidates were nominated by political parties and initiative groups.

The decision to hold mid-term elections in the Nadzaladevi District, located in Tbilisi, and in the Bagdati and Samtredia Districts was made on February 15. The majority deputies-winners in these constituencies, nominated by the coalition of "Georgian Dream", were later moved to the executive branch: Theya Tsulukiani was appointed the Minister of Justice, Archil Kbilashvili – the Chief Public Prosecutor, and Kakha Kaladze – the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.

The "National Movement" has stated a number of violations at several polling stations of Samtredia and Bagdati, mainly concerning the process of marking and mobile ballot boxes, the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
