Mother of ex-prosecutor from Ingushetia claims her son being pressured in prison

The mother of Ali Dobriev, a former staff member of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Ingushetia, who is serving his sentence at the Federal Public Institution (FPI) Penal Colony (PC) No. 13 in Nizhny Tagil of the Sverdlovsk Region, complains that his son is subjected to harassment on ethnic or religious grounds by the administration and personnel of the penal colony. This information is going to check the members of the Public Supervisory Commission.

Let us remind you that on July 2, 2012, the Supreme Court (SC) of Ingushetia found the former assistant of the Prosecutor of the Sunzha District of Ingushetia guilty of organizing an illegal armed grouping and arms trafficking. Ali Dobriev was sentenced to three years of imprisonment to be served at a penal colony of minimum security.

According to the story of Madina Dobrieva, immediately after her son had been placed to the Penal Colony No. 13, "an adaptation was started". "At first, trying "to break" Ali, they beat and insulted him. After unsuccessful attempts to humiliate him and his human dignity, they first took away his prayer rug and Koran, and then they just placed and closed him in ShIZO (punishment cell or dungeon) without any reasons," Madina Dobrieva told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The woman has added that the penal colony "is known for fierce hatred of Caucasians and Muslims."

"I cannot contact the penal colony by the phone. I do not know what is happening to my son. However, I learned that he is kept at a punishment cell starting from April 9," the mother of the prisoner has stated. She has added that her son lost his health in the course of the investigation.

According to the information of the mother of the prisoner, Ali Dobriev was kept at the ShIZO for 20 days instead of 15 days. On April 29, he was released from the ShIZO; however, according to his mother's story, he was placed "in some isolated place". "I do not know exactly how it is called. Prisoners are completely closed in that place, isolated from the outside world and tortured. At present, my son is held there. They give him food with pork. And he eats practically nothing there, since he may not eat pork," Madina Dobrieva said.

The mother of the prisoner claims that at present, apart from her son, natives of Chechnya are subjected to physical and moral harassment at the Penal Colony No. 13. "However, among all Caucasians, my son is more often subjected to pressure," she has stressed.

Madina Dobrieva intends to appeal to the human rights organizations and public institutions to protect the rights of her son.

Ashurbek Manasov, Chairman of the Public Supervisory Commission (PSC) of the Sverdlovsk Region, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the information about the oppression of Ali Dobriev would be checked. He has added that the members of the Public Supervisory Commission will visit the Penal Colony No. 13 to check the conditions of detention of the prisoner.
