"Beslan Mothers" commemorate children killed in Newtown

An action in memory of the children killed on December 14 in Newtown, State Connecticut of the USA, was held in the gym of Beslan School, whose pupils and teachers in September 2004 became terrorists' hostages and were killed. Mothers of the kids killed in North Ossetia decided to support their counterparts from another country, who have experienced the same grief.

The action in the Beslan School gym was held on December 18; its members have laid out by means of red candles the words: "Newtown 26" and read out an address to the parents of the children killed in the United States.

The tragedy occurred in Newtown on December 14; Adam Lanza, a 20-year-old resident of Newtown, first killed his mother at home, and then shot dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School 26 people, including 20 children aged six-seven years. He later shot himself dead in the place of the tragedy. The bodies of the casualties had from 3 to 11 gunshot wounds. After the tragedy, the USA announced four-day mourning, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

The motives that pushed the young man to commit the crime are unknown yet. There is evidence that he was unstable and suffered from Asperger's syndrome (a form of autism), the Daily News reports.

Members of the "Beslan Mothers" Committee, residents of the Pravoberezhny District and other areas of the republic came to express their solidarity to relatives of the assassinated kids and teachers, the "15th Region" reports.
