Trade union of oil terminal at Kulevi Port satisfied with progress of negotiations with company management

In Georgia, the management of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) "Black Sea Oil Terminal" has expressed its willingness to help the trade union of the oil terminal in Kulevi. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Kartlosi Djobava, Chairman of the trade union.

The warning three-hour action of dockers, who demanded higher wages and reinstatement of several workers who were dismissed earlier, was held on December 21. According to the strikers' version, the administration of the terminal has not responded to their demands and on December 22, a full-scale strike was begun.

As a result, the administration agreed to reinstate 11 workers, to pay wages for the days of the strike, and it also began negotiations on wage increases. On December 24, the strike was suspended, and the terminal began to work with a full load.

At present, the terminal management is conducting an economic analysis of the possibility to meet the demands of the workers.

"If we see that the company management is trying to postpone the issues or even to get away from them, then we still have all of our constitutional rights and all opportunities to resume the strike. However, there is still no reason for that," the leader of the union has stated.

"Frankly speaking, we were not surprised that the management of the LLC "Black Sea Oil Terminal", which owns the oil terminal in Kulevi, made concessions, since throughout Georgia, there is a situation in which they had no other choice," said Gocha Alexandriya, Deputy Chairman of the "Association of Independent Trade Unions of Georgia".
