Astrakhan Prosecutor's Office finds violations in Mayoralty's efforts of clearing snow

The Prosecutor's Office of the Astrakhan Region has revealed violations of the legislation on road safety: the inspection has revealed the inability of the city administration to take sufficient measures to clear snow from the roads.

On December 24, a heavy snow led to traffic collapse; and townspeople said that roads and streets were not cleared. The Mayoralty has assured that the snow removal equipment is working day and night.

However, according to the Prosecutor's Office, because of poor clearing, roads got covered with ice, which resulted in a sharp rise in road accidents: 270 accidents within two days, where 19 persons were injured, including two children.

The Mayor of the city received a presentation prescribing to eliminate violations of the legislation, says the website of the Astrakhan Regional Prosecutor's Office.

The situation with road clearing, including the reaction to the prosecutor's presentation, has been taken under control of the Astrakhan Prosecutor's Office, the "Astrakhan-FM" reports.
