Monument to Stalin restored in Telavi District of Georgia

A monument to Joseph Stalin has been installed in the centre of the village of Akura, Telavi District. This is the second recently reconstructed monument to Stalin in Georgia.

In November, the earlier dismantled monument to Stalinwas reinstalled in the village of Zemo Alvani. The opening ceremony of the monument, which was attended by about 60 people, took place on December 21.

The monument in the village of Akura was set up arbitrarily by the locals. As reported by villagers, the dismantling of the monument took place two years ago. It was damaged and kept in the house of one of the villagers, the "News-Georgia" reports.

The villagers attributed the return of the monument to its original place with the change of power. "The power has changed; and we have put the monument," the "Georgia Online" quotes Leva Beriashvili, a resident of Akura.
