A picketer against "Dima Yakovlev's Law" detained in Rostov-on-Don

Rostov-on-Don hosted a picket of opponents of the "Dima Yakovlev's Law", during which Margos Tiratsuyan, an activist of the People's Freedom Party (ParNas), was detained.

On December 26, the Council of Federation unanimously voted for the "Dima Yakovlev's Law", which bans adoption of Russian orphans by US adoptive parents and which had caused a great public outcry. The document was passed by the State Duma on December 21. Now the bill goes to the Kremlin, where the president has two weeks to make a decision to sign it or not.

A protest against the law that prohibits adoption of Russian children by foreigners was held in Rostov-on-Don on December 30. The action was sanctioned by the authorities of the city and was attended by 15 participants.

In general, the picket passed peacefully. However, as reported by Vladislav Ryazantsev, the coordinator of the Left-Wing Front in the Rostov Region, law enforcers had questions to one of the participants of the picket.

"Margos Tiratsuyan was spreading the quite well-known in Russia reports on the life of 'a slave on galleys'. Policemen treated them as materials of unstated origin," the edition "161.ru" quotes Vladislav Ryazantsev as saying.

The police found that Margos Tiratsuyan's actions violated the established order of a public event and brought to the police station, the "News of Rostov" reports.
