Subari: 3000 prisoners will get at large under the Law "On Amnesty" in Georgia

Within two months from the entry into force of the Law "On Amnesty", 3000 inmates will be released; and 14,000 others will have their terms reduced, said Sozar Subari, Minister for Correction, Probation and Legal Assistance of Georgia.

He said that after the amnesty came into force, within a week the cases of all political prisoners would be sent to the courts; and within two weeks – all other cases. In total, all the problems associated with the release and reduction of terms would be solved within two months, the "Georgia Online" reports.

He said that the new Law "On Amnesty" was worded in such a manner "as not to boost crime in the streets, and not to endanger the public order."
