Rescuers find bone of ancient animal in central Volgograd

On January 2, on the bottom of the Volga River, in the area of the central embankment of Volgograd, rescuers found a bone of a prehistoric animal, presumably a mammoth.

The remains of the animal's shin bone were lifted from the bottom by rescuers during their training dives into the river.

The size of the bone is almost half the height of an average human; therefore, the rescuers have suggested that it may belong to a mammoth, writes the "New Paper in the South Federal District".

At present, the issue is addressed of transferring the unique finding to one of Volgograd museums, the "V1.ru" reports.
