"Sotsprof" sends appeal to Governor of Volgograd Region on invalids' problems
The territorial association (TA) of the Volgograd Region "Sotsprof" has sent an appeal to the regional governor Sergey Bozhenov concerning the problems of the disabled. According to activists of the association, the regional government is making too little to improve the status of people with disabilities.
"We have to state that still the problems of people with disabilities are neglected by regional authorities," says the appeal.
"The response to our first such appeal was to come in late November; and we expect to receive an answer to this repeated appeal at the end of January," Evgeniy Mogilyov, the chairman of the TA "Sotsprof", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"If the governor hasn't answered, it means that he's busy with more important things. Perhaps now, as in the Soviet times, we have no invalids – and none of their problems too," said Alexander Oleinikov, a wheelchair invalid.
The list of unresolved problems includes creation of "barrier-free" environment in Volgograd for people with disabilities to enable them moving freely around the city, Svetlana Seleznyova, the Chair of the Board of the Volgograd Regional Organization of Young Invalids "Open World", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
