Krasnodar court extends Mikhail Savva's arrest until August 11
The today's session of the Oktiabrsky District Court of Krasnodar has considered the investigators' motion on extending the custody of Professor Mikhail Savva from the Kuban State University (KSU). The court has decided to leave him behind bars till August 11.
Let us remind you that Professor Savva, the director for grant programmes of the Southern Regional Resource Centre, was arrested April 13 on suspicion of embezzlement of budgetary funds allocated by the territorial administration in the form of a grant. On May 14, it became known that the professor was additionally accused of a fraud.
Officially, the today's session was open, but, in fact, it was held behind closed doors, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports. A group of people who gathered today at 11:00 a.m. at the Oktiabrsky District Court in order to support Mikhail Savva – his colleagues, students, relatives and a few journalists – was allowed into the courthouse, but they failed to get to the session.
So far, the "Caucasian Knot" has no comments of the judiciary about the today's session.
