Commander of "Akhmat" special unit comments on his advocate's arrest
Apti Alaudinov, the commander of the "Akhmat" special unit, has confirmed that Denis Shapiro, arrested in Moscow, was his advocate after Alaudinov's poisoning and helped the "Akhmat" units, but called not to speculate on the topic of the advocate's detention.
On October 8, it became known that a court in Moscow had placed in custody Denis Shapiro, a member of the Bar Association of the Chechen Republic, who is accused of fraud: investigators believe that Shapiro received money for helping to close a criminal case. According to the TASS, Shapiro has recently represented the interests of a number of participants in the special military operation (SMO), including those of Apti Alaudinov.
After the attempted poisoning of Alaudinov in February 2023, Shapiro, as Alaudinov's advocate, made statements. Then, Alaudinov's adjutant received an envelope with a letter soaked in a poisonous substance, after which Alaudinov and his two adjutants were hospitalized. Shapiro demanded that a criminal case be opened.
According to Alaudinov, he is "absolutely calm" about Shapiro's detention.
"Even in the event of a guilty verdict, I am grateful to Denis for his assistance to the "Akhmat" special fighters. I believe that it is pointless to speculate on publications on this topic and try to put some special meaning into the news about Denis Shapiro's detention. Moreover, given the fact that he is my personal advocate," the publication says.
