Grozny administration withdraws abandoned land plots
The officials of the administration of the Chechen capital are conducting raids aimed to reveal abandoned land plots. The plots whose owners do not take care of them shall be withdrawn, said a source from the Mayoralty in Grozny. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the source that this work is active since June 3.
"We have repeatedly issued warnings to owners of abandoned land plots, informed them of the need to maintain their property in a proper way; however, many of them just ignore the appeals and requests. In this regard, now negligent owners will simply lose land in the judicial order," said the source from the Mayoralty.
According to his story, over the past few weeks 30 land plots, whose owners failed to keep their condition or had no title documents, were confiscated in the central part of the city. "The confiscated land plots will be distributed among those who truly need them," he said.
Residents of the city treat the action of the city authorities as illegal and arbitrary. "It's just a pretext to take away people's property in order to appropriate it or simply resell. The land in the central part of the city is very expensive; and we can only guess how many hundreds of millions one can earn from resale of land," said Makhdi G., a resident of Grozny.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that last April the capital of Chechnya also saw large-scale raids aimed to reveal bad owners of private houses and land plots. Some local residents expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that inspectors demanded to remove building materials stored in front of the houses.
