Circulation of paper-leaflet "For Navalny" confiscated in Krasnodar

On June 6, in Krasnodar, the police confiscated 31,000 copies of the newspaper-leaflet "For Navalny" from activists of the regional branch of the "People's Alliance" Party. The police found that the texts of the edition are discrediting the country's top officials.

The car of the activists of the "People's Alliance" was detained by police at the exit from the printing house, as soon as they took out the printed edition.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Olga Plakhutina, a member of the party branch, and her brother Alexei that policemen had initially motivated the detention of the car by a suspicion that the publications carried by the car contained extremist materials. "However, at the UVD (Interior Department) the version changed," said Alexei. "It was decided that we drove through a red light; and our car was stopped for a traffic violation; and then a policeman, who inspected the car, noticed some probably illegal publications."

In relation to Olga Plakhutina, a protocol of an administrative violation was drawn up under Article 12.12 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Russian Federation (drive against a red light or a prohibiting regulator's gesture). All the printed copies of the paper-leaflet were confiscated.

Anastasia Titova, the chair of the regional branch of the "People's Alliance" Party, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the confiscation of the edition would be appealed against.

The on duty unit of the UVD refused to comment on the incident with confiscation of the edition "For Navalny". A source from the UVD said on the subject only that "everyone can express his or her disagreement with one's actions by legitimate means."
