Defendant on the case of a soldier’s death in Vladikavkaz sentenced to four and a half years of custody

Military garrison court of Vladikavkaz brought a verdict on the case of serviceman Tleppergen Zalukashev accused of violation of statutory regulations and interrelationship. The defendant was acknowledged guilty of the death of his colleague Artem Zgersky and sentenced to 4 years and 6 months of custody in a general regime colony.

A conflict between the two soldiers took place on August, 15, 2012. According to the lost soldier’s mother Anna Zgersksaya, only after a criminal case was initiated she learned about the cause of the trauma that resulted in her son’s death.

The investigation established that Zalukashev beat up Zgersky who falling down struck his head against concrete floor. Zalukashev acknowledged his guilt concerning the charge brought against him only in part. In his opinion, his conflict with Zgersky could not result in an accident.

State prosecution asked to sentence the defendant to five years of custody. Lawyer of foundation “Mother’s Right” Zarema Yusupova considers that the conflict was a result of the lack of the command’s educational work.

The defendant’s attorney Liana Botoeva asked for a minimal penalty to her client. She thinks that Zgersky did not get a trauma that caused his death, neither did he ask for medical aid or complain to the command.
