Mikhail Saakashvili to recall Georgian ambassadors in consultation with Government

Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili in consultation with the Government has signed a decree to recall extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of Georgia from several countries. This was reported by a representative of his administration. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Georgia has clarified that, at present, only five ambassadors have been recalled officially.

In total, Georgia has representative offices in 65 countries. Meanwhile, several Georgian media reported that in total, 18 ambassadors were recalled.

After the statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Georgian MFA has clarified that, at present, only five ambassadors whose rotation period came were recalled. Other three ambassadors (in Italy, the USA and the UN) have stated they do not intend to cooperate with the new government.

Besides, a list of 10 ambassadors has been compiled, recalling of whom the Georgian MFA considers to be reasonable and who have not been recalled yet, the portal "News-Georgia" reports.

Meanwhile, the administration of the President of Georgia did not mention the names of the ambassadors, the "Trend" reports.
